flower artIn this retreat, nurses will learn about mindfulness as a way to cultivate inner resources to meet the challenges in healthcare today. Mindfulness is a compassionate practice to strengthen present moment awareness. This evidence based practice helps to develop crucial skills to avoid emotional and physical depletion and to maintain a sense of personal balance. These skills are central to the healer's art and vital to professional health and longevity.

This retreat will be experiential, and involve personal engagement in guided and silent meditation, didactic instruction and group discussions.

This is an opportunity to connect to one’s heart and replenish body, mind, and spirit.

Upon completion of this retreat nurses will be able to:

  • Describe three foundational principles of mindfulness
  • Identify two clinical applications of mindfulness
  • Identify three mindfulness tools to prevent compassion fatigue and burnout
