Nature-Based Mindfulness Program - Santa Cruz, Half Day Class (9/12/20)

HALF-DAY SESSION

Saturday, September 12, 2020 - 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm - Pogonip, Santa Cruz

NATURE-BASED MINDFULNESS: GOING DEEPER

Relax your mind, open your heart, and nourish your spirit… naturally!

It’s not always easy being mindful, especially amidst the intense pace and pressures of modern life. Yet we don’t have to struggle alone. This deeply peaceful mini-retreat teaches easy, enjoyable ways to reduce stress and cultivate mindfulness by tapping into the calming, healing powers of nature.

It’s clear that being near trees, water, and other aspects of nature is good medicine, one of the best ways to restore frazzled minds and weary bodies. Documented benefits include reduced stress, anxiety, and depression; increased creativity and vitality; better immune system function; and improved academic and job performance. And when we bring more mindfulness into our contact with nature, it enhances the experience, amplifies the benefits, and provides powerful support for mind-body wellness.

This session is held on a very scenic trail with redwoods, oaks, ferns, and a flowing creek, which allows for a deeper dive into the peace of nature and the potential of nature-based mindfulness. You’ll be skillfully guided through simple yet potent practices to help you slow down, be more present, and experience the beauty and wonder of nature more profoundly. You will leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, with tools you can use to bring greater ease and balance into daily life and to receive more lasting benefits from time in natural settings. Participants are consistently amazed by how deep we go in just a few hours, and how different they feel afterward.

This program is especially appropriate for those who: want to connect with nature; spend most of their time indoors or in front of screens; are coping with chronic stress, anxiety, or depression; and/or aspire to cultivate mindfulness yet have difficulty with seated meditation or maintaining a consistent practice. It’s also a rich and rewarding experience to share with a friend or family member.

Please dress in layers, ready for sun or shade, and wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring water and a snack, and a journal if you wish.
