Nature-Based Mindfulness Program - Mountain View, Half Day Class (9/26/20)

Saturday, September 26, 2020 - 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm - Park Pavilion, Room K

Dissolve stress, calm your mind, and nourish your spirit… naturally!

It’s not always easy being mindful, especially amidst the intense pace and pressures of modern life. Yet we don’t have to struggle alone. This session teaches easy, enjoyable ways to reduce stress and cultivate mindfulness by tapping into the calming, healing powers of nature—even if you live in a city and don’t have time.

It’s clear that being near trees, water, and other aspects of nature is good medicine, one of the best ways to restore frazzled minds and weary bodies. Documented benefits include reduced stress, anxiety, and depression; increased creativity and vitality; better immune system function; and improved academic and job performance. And when we bring more mindfulness into our contact with nature, it enhances the experience, amplifies the benefits, and provides powerful support for mind-body wellness.

Most of this gentle and nourishing mini-retreat is held outdoors among the trees of Cuesta Park. You’ll be skillfully guided through simple yet potent practices to help you slow down, be more fully present, and connect more deeply with the peace and beauty of nature. You will leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, with tools you can use to bring greater ease and balance into daily life and to receive more profound benefits from time in natural settings.

This program is especially appropriate for those who: want to connect with nature; spend most of their time indoors or in front of screens; are coping with chronic stress, anxiety, or depression; and/or aspire to cultivate mindfulness yet have difficulty with seated meditation or maintaining a consistent practice. It’s also a rich and rewarding experience to share with a friend or family member.

Please dress in layers, ready for sun or shade, and wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring water and a snack, and a journal if you wish.
