Corporate Program

"Heart at Work" was established in 1997 to bring Mindfulness–Based programs into the workplace. In today’s workplace we have the ability to move information around the world in seconds, meeting face-to-face with people on other continents with the click of a button. Employees are driving themselves to do more, to achieve more, to do everything faster; all of which seems to result in a fragmented, over-stressed, and hectic way of life.

We continue to hone technology to a fine edge, yet remain largely and surprisingly ignorant about the functioning of our own minds. Many people do not know how to consciously focus their concentration, or how to find peace and balance in their own lives.

"Heart at Work" specializes in work/life balance programs that are customized for each client. We have worked with various corporations such as Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, Silicon Graphics, Xerox, and the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Due to ever increasing challenges in today’s workplace, many people are experiencing the signs of stress. "Heart at Work" is a multifaceted approach that teaches people to manage stress, deepen concentration, and increase a sense of satisfaction at work and in life. Our program consists of training in mindfulness meditation, yoga, and experiential learning.

People come to our workshops suffering from a variety of stress-related complaints. Their productivity is off, they feel worried, their home lives are suffering, and they report that their lives feel out of control. The practice of mindfulness meditation enables people to cultivate the awareness of their body and mind in the midst of day-to-day activities.

Our programs teach people to learn how to respond to the complexities, pressures, and uncertainties of the workplace with greater balance, clarity, and productivity. Our gentle form of yoga instruction offers participants an opportunity to release muscular tension through stretching and simple movement.

The experiential learning component gives people a chance to practice positive, creative, and productive responses to interpersonal challenges, changing work environments, and other stresses. These are practiced during the sessions and also by participants on their own.

"I'm more in touch with my physical and emotional stress and am able to work through issues more easily."
"I'm much more able to focus and pay attention."
"My life is so much more peaceful now. I realized that I spent a lot of home time worrying about work. Now I can leave work at work and truly be home with my family. Even my husband and teenager noticed."
"That I have placed far too much emphasis on what’s been wrong with my life instead of what’s right with it."
"I have a clearer awareness of stress and its impact on my thoughts, feelings, and body, and have the ability now to manage my life better."
